It's All in the Details

I find it so amusing that these are the types of decisions we have to make - what kind of cupcake liners do we want? Check out the ones we decided on. I'm ridiculously happy about them when who cares about cupcake liners? I wish everything were so fun and so easy.

Invitations-R-Us

What with school and work and the wedding, the blog has honestly been the last thing on my mind. I had a minor freak-out about the invitations. We were going to use a friend of a friend. I met with her, admittedly I was a bit frazzled, and wasn’t sure I conveyed at all what we wanted. Partly because I didn’t know how to describe what we wanted. So I left feeling a little uncertain. Plus, the woman we met with doesn’t normally do wedding invitations, so it’s not like we had samples to look at. Which was sort of all the whole point. We didn’t want to walk into a stationery store and just point to the one we wanted. We wanted something completely original and something in which we could be part of the creative process.

Then my mother presented another option. A friend of my aunt’s is a graphic designer and she’s doing the invitations for my cousin’s wedding. Turns out she was happy to do ours, too, and she’s reducing her fee for us, which is incredibly generous and wonderful. The freak-out occurred when I had to decide between the two women before I had seen anything from either one of them and I felt really bad turning down the friend of a friend after she so generously took the time to meet with me. But in the end, that’s what we did, going with the cheaper option and the family friend. She lives in Oregon, but doing everything over email and the phone has been pretty easy. We love what’s she’s created for us: really simple, elegant, and original.
