Macy's

We went to Macy's on Friday evening. Having learned our lesson at Crate & Barrel, we first stopped at Trailer Park for margaritas, mac & chees, and sweet potato fries. We set up our registry with Maria, who was disappointed to learn I had already found my wedding dress:

"I don't suppose you've already found your wedding dress?"
"Yup."
"Oh. I'm sure you look very beautiful in it. But if you were to get your dress here, we would have given you 15% off." She stuck the discount card in our little folder just in case I changed my mind.

There was a whole rigamorole to go through when all we really wanted was to get that scanning gun and run around the store - all 9 floors. Eventually we were set loose, after assuring Maria that we did not need her to accompany us. We started with the placesettings and had no trouble agreeing on something by Kate Spade. Ditto no trouble deciding on a towel set. The bedding section proved to be too much for us.

What do you envision our bedroom looking like, j. asked me. I don't. I have no vision. j. didn't believe me, but it's true. We're not going to be in our current apartment for more than another year. And then where? We have no idea what city we're going to end up in. How can I envision any room? So how can I decide on sheets? We needed a few more drinks and more time. As it stood, it was 8:30 and closing time and our buzz had worn off back in flatware.

Date Saved

The save the dates went out yesterday. I fear we f-ed it up somehow. Not certain how that would be possible, but still worried about it. Just waiting for some sort of response.

MS Weddings - I

The new Martha Stewart wedding issue is on stands! I'm sure it's been out for a while now, but I just bought it. When j. came home from school the other night, I was reading MS Weddings, eating a pint of ice cream, and watching Project Runway. He laughed at me, but I thought to myself, when j. came to sit with me, I couldn't be happier.

In the Good Things section, my favorite, Martha tells you how to make your own stationery using an embosser. It LOOKS easy, but I feel this could turn into one my projects where I buy all the materials, make one thing, then find it tedious and too involved and leave everything sitting on a shelf for years and years until j. gets fed up and throws it out because he's sick of moving it from apartment to apartment and who can blame him.

That's as far as I've made it, but I'm hoping she has some good cupcake decorating ideas.

What j. Taught Me

Fiancee is feminine. Fiance is masculine. Many apologies for all those instances in which I called j. my fiancee. Betrothed was really the best we could do in the English language?
